Val Cenis english summary
A fatal accident occurred on the 14th of February 2004 on a "snow walkway" in the Alps ski resort of Val Cenis. The Secretary of State for Transport requested the recently created BEA-TT to carry out a technical inquiry into this unacceptable event.
After emergency recommendations were issued, the BEA-TT concluded to the need to clarify the legal position of such facilities by submitting them to an inspection and authorisation system similar to the one applicable to traditional cableways installations. In addition, the report specifies the areas where technical arrangements need to be improved and which operational arrangements call for specific precautions.
